Cycling

The area around the chalet is famous amongst keen cyclists with the Tour de France passing through nearly every year. Two cols, the Col d'Iseran (2730 metres) and the Col de Petit St Bernard (2150 metres) are within an hour's ride of the house, with the Col d'Iseran beyond Val d'Isere being considered one of the toughest rides in the Alps. Two other famous mountain passes are also within striking distance of the chalet. The Cormet de Roseland which heads through the Beaufortain mountain range and onto the town of Beaufort and the Col de la Madelaine which takes you through to the Maurienne valley also feature in the Tour. The roads are generally quiet and the French drivers are very respectful of cyclists. We have maps and some suggested itineries for you to follow.

For less experienced cyclists we have identified a number of low level routes with less intense climbs, great scenery and convenient places to stop for refreshments.
